ALATEEN

Alateen, part of the Al-Anon Family Groups, is a fellowship of young people whose lives have been affected by alcoholism in a family member. We believe alcoholism is a family disease that affects all the family members emotionally and sometimes physically. We come together to support one another by sharing our experience, strength and hope. Although we cannot change or cure our parents, we can detach from their problems and continue to love them. We focus on the solution to our problems. We do this by applying the Twelve Steps to ourselves which in turn helps us to grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Alateen gives us a wonderful, healthy program to live by and enjoy.

MEETINGS

Meets every Thursday in-person at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church from 6 – 7:30pm in Bakersfield. For meeting information please email alateen@kernal-anon.org.

OUR PURPOSE

WE EDUCATE

If you are between the ages of 9 and 18 years, and have been affected by someone’s drinking, consider visiting an Alateen meeting. You’ll meet other young people just like you who are experiencing in varying degrees, the same feelings of pain and frustration. Alateens use the program to find serenity, even happiness, whether the other person is still drinking or not.
